In the premiere underground club on the East Side of Atlanta, I flashed to a tropically-fused environ that I imagine would be somewhere along the coast of Spain. The red lights behind her head only further enhance this transformation. If it weren’t for the allergies that only ATL can provide, I’d have been looking for a cup of Sangria.

My discovery of Adron has been a long-time coming. We have mutual friends. We’ve played with the same bands. But, somehow, our paths have failed to cross. I remember at one point trying to check out her music on some social media sparkplug, but the track wouldn’t play. I jumped ahead. Yet again, I went one way, she went another.

So, in this heralded hall, I finally found a sound that may change the game. The songs build from what may be Atlanta’s best rhythm section (which is shared by fellow psychedelic explorers, the Selmanaires who shared the stage later that evening). Adron’s guitarist tip-taps his guitar in the most non-Van Halen method. It’s fascinating to watch, and you find yourself engrossed in his technicality. There were scattered claps following his solos that are usually reserved for smoky Montreal jazz clubs. Adron’s silky voice lilts around the arrangements with a clean airiness that couldn’t possibly be breathing the same smog as the rest of us.

If I held the keys to pop-culture, I’d unlock the door for Adron. Her songs may not be brimming with pop-sensibility, but they’re damn cleverly constructed and the musicianship is flawless. If I were you (or myself several weeks or months ago), I would check her out sooner rather than later…like this Saturday night (July 17th, $8) at the Star Bar, again with the Selmanaires.

Here’s a triple treat. Two tracks and a video from the trio playing the EARL tonight.

Adam Arcuragi will bring his folkish pop back to Atlanta on Thursday night. Adam returns to his native Atlanta from the City of Brotherly Love (one of our former homes) to record his next album. He just did a Tiny Desk Concert with Bob Boilen and will be playing tracks from I Am Become Joy, including the freebie below.

Adrienne McCann is Adron and her music is compellingly beautiful. She starts the evening playing songs from her eponymous full length, Adron, which includes the tune in the video below.

The headliner of the homegrown bill is Little Tybee whose electronic chamber pop stylings will close out the night at The EARL. Check out their debut LP, Building A Bomb. We like it a lot.

All this for only $7.

Listen: Little Tybee – Building A Bomb
Listen: Adam Arcuragi – Almost Always (look at all those double AAs…)

Thanks to IndieATL for creating another great video. Here’s Adron.
