This former-New Englander loves Halloween. I have fond memories of getting dressed up in my Halloween costume, putting my snow suit on, and getting in a cold car to drive to the 4 or 5 houses in my “neighborhood.” Maybe that is why the idea of a clothing optional Halloween Parade is so intriguing to me…
L5P will be hosting its 9th annual “never to be missed community spectacle” this Friday and Saturday. The highlight for us will be the parade Saturday at 4. The parade route starts near the Variety on Euclid Avenue, heads south on Moreland, makes a U turn (near the Sherwin Williams paint store) then back up Moreland to finish at the park by Druid Place. After examining the participants as they pause in front of The Brewhouse, the judges award prizes for best business and independent floats, walking group, and “art car.” You’ve even got one more day to put in an application to be part of the parade.
As an added bonus, if you missed Seed & Feed Marching Abominable (and all that entails) at the Candler Park Festival on Sunday, they will be making an appearance at the parade on Saturday. As another added bonus, the parade supports the L5P business district, home to several of our favorite businesses. In fact, all outdoor beverage sales proceeds support the L5P Business Association. Not that we recommend you drink outdoor beverages. Never. (We do.) See you there.
