Canadian songwriter Barzin brings all kinds of north of the border credibility to the table having recorded and mixed his last album, Notes to an Absent Lover, with folks who have also worked with Ron Sexsmith, Neko Case, and The New Pornographers. One of his band members on his self-titled debut record was Tony Dekker of Great Lake Swimmers. All that adds up to some fine songwriting with an emphasis on lush folk arrangements and heart rending lyrics.
