Yeah, it’s a goofy title but we cannot believe tickets are still available for this show. The two hottest bands on the blogosphere (for whatever that’s worth) in the same place, at the same time, for one low price.
The show was moved from the Earl to Variety Playhouse because tickets were moving so fast, and yes while that is a big move, the momentum of these two bands right now is really remarkable. In the six months since they packed the room at 529 and played an in-store at Criminal Records, the xx have gone from indie sensation to critics darling to burgeoning stars. Meanwhile, jj who, despite two prior full lengths, were certainly not on our radar when this show was booked are now the hottest thing on Hype Machine even amidst of a flurry of memorial posts and new releases from Vampire Weekend and Spoon. We even like the double letters in both their names (though we prefer caps – we’re sort of loud that way).
What’s more is that with one band hailing from the U.K. and the other from Sweden this is a double bill that will not be repeated any time soon. The show is March 24 at Variety Playhouse and advance tickets are only $16.
