The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that rock legend Alex Chilton passed away today. We might think that everybody knows the creative force behind The Box Tops and Big Star but we wonder for a minute if his influence is still as pervasive as it was when Paul Westerberg penned a song about him. We sure hope it might be.
We won’t repeat the last line of that Replacements song, since it didn’t quite turn out that way, but Alex Chilton was still cool with us. Fortunately he left his music behind.
