Listen Up: Corner Kid

By Matt Jarrard

Atlanta, meet Corner Kid. You might remember Chad Yochum as front-guy/keyboard/guitar from the now defunct Lions and Scissors. If you’ve ever seen Chad perform, you won’t forget it. He attacks whatever instrument he picks up, and lends the same intensity and aggression to his chills-inducing vocals. In addition to his stellar chops, Corner Kid shows off Chad’s ability to craft a tremendously epic pop song.

From what I’ve heard of the album Atlas, At Last! Corner Kid has a sound that is accessible, but varied enough not to be boring. From what he’s told me, Chad doesn’t yet have a full line up to perform these songs live. But if he pulls together a group of musicians willing and able to pull off this music in a live setting, it will be a sight to behold. You can bet I’ll be there to see it!

The first half (7 of the 14 tracks) of Atlas, At Last! is available to stream on Reverb Nation so go give it a free listen before the official release in February.
