Tonight: Dave Alvin at Eddie’s Attic

In a quote that seems inspired by a line from the original Blues Brothers film, Dave Alvin will tell you that he plays both kinds of folk music: soft and loud. It’s been enough to get him Grammy nods and a legion of loyal fans.

His latest efforts, Chris Gaffney Tribute: The Man of Somebody’s Dreams and Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, were both released by Yep Roc on the same day last spring. The former is a tribute to the memory Alvin’s close friend and includes performances by Alejandro Escovedo and Calexico. The latter is the what happened while Dave was taking a break from his usual band, The Guilty Men.

A few of the the Guilty Women will be with Alvin tonight at Eddie’s Attic for two shows that are not to be missed. Early show at 7:00 and late show at 9:00. $25 at the door.

Here’s a video of Dave with the Guilty Men.
