We were mesmerized the first time we heard “Stanislaus” (listen below) and put White Water, White Bloom on our must buy list shortly thereafter. It has been the radio alarm CD for more than two weeks now – a special designation in our little world – and we have no plans to swap it out anytime soon. We’ve become quite comfortable waking up to Sea Wolf.
We must confess that we were big fans of the Jack London books as kids, so that was an intended hook, it got us. If not, the musical hooks managed to make it work just as well.
The man behind the music is Alex Brown Church and he is on a bit of a roll. In addition to the new LP, he also has a track on the “New Moon” Twilight soundtrack. That placement alongside folks like Death Cab for Cutie and Thom Yorke should get him some well deserved exposure.
Sea Wolf visits East Atlanta Village this Friday night at the EARL. We’re told to keep our eyes out for Sara Lov too, who will start the three band bill. $10, doors at 9:00.
