Girls – Free In Store, Feb. 5 at Criminal Records UPDATED

Girls will play the EARL on Friday night, but that show is sold out.  You might find some tickets on craigslist, but (to borrow the words of Craig Finn) “save yourself the hassle” and catch them for free at Criminal Records on Friday evening at 7pm 5:00.  It’s a little early, but it’s a Friday, so sneak out of your day job and get a jump on the weekend.  Here’s a kicker, the event is sponsored in part by New Belgium Brewing Co., so there will be beer.

Girls are a San Francisco based band founded by Christopher Owens and Chet “JR” White and as you might imagine photos of them are not easy to find through a creative commons search without even more hassle.  Fortuntely the folks at Criminal came up with the nifty poster below.

Their debut record, Album, was released in 2009 on True Panther Sounds and of course, copies are available at Criminal Records.

Our pals at Criminal tell us their sound is like 1950s surf-pop meets 1980s new wave. Think a touch of Elvis Costello with a hint of the Beach Boys. Listen to these two free and legal tracks to decide for yourself.
