Alex hails from Pittsburgh, PA. He has played in dozens of bands since the age of 15 opening for such acts as Lucinda Williams, Drive-By Truckers, Nashville Pussy, The Jayhawks, Robbie Fulks, and Wheat. Alex is currently the lead singer/songwriter of indie rock group Swing Set.
He likes Siamese cats, collecting fuzz boxes and guitars and may possibly be the world’s only fan of Steven Seagal. Alex also has a penchant for beer, preferably something cheap, but a fancy Belgian White will also do. His favorite bands are Jawbreaker, Superchunk, Mark Kozelek, Buffalo Tom and David Bowie circa Ziggy Stardust. His favorite food is Chinese sticky rice or a grilled cheese sandwich and sweet tea.
Matt plays cello with the Atlanta-based bands Oryx and Crake and Book Club. You can contact Matt at matt [at] atlalist [dot] com.
Rube was in a band for about 15 minutes, learned to read when he was 19 (triggering a prompt change in political affiliations), and arrived in Atlanta from somewhere else a minute ago. All, or maybe none, of which qualify him as curator of this project.
He still refuses to install a chicken coop in his backyard and occasionally drives around with his windows too far down and his stereo up too loud. If you told him he could only listen to five bands for the rest of his life they (still) would be: Wilco, Queen, Bob Dylan, The Replacements & Josh Ritter. Some of his favorite books were written by Ron Rash, Ernest Hemingway, Junot Diaz, Noah Webster, and Joseph Ellis. You can contact Rube at rube [at] atlalist [dot] com.
Yankee Rose is a figment of Rube’s imagination, yet she insists that a chicken coop in his backyard is a good idea.
